Le Havre is situated on the estuary of the river Seine in the Normandy region of northwestern France. In addition to the city center which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005 due to its unique post-war architecture, the André Malraux Modern Art Museum (MuMa) with its collection of impressionist paintings counts among the most famous attractions. The city is also a popular departing point for excursions to the rocky coast along the Channel, the neighbouring city of Honfleur, the medieval town of Rouen or Paris which is about 200 kilometers away.
The cliffs of Étretat
The Côte d'Albâtre (Alabaster Coast) along the Channel is characterized by high chalk cliffs which rise up to 100 meters above the sea. The cliffs around Étretat are particularly impressive.
Honfleur
The picturesque city is situated at the opposite bank of the river Seine and can be reached via the Pont de Normandie. The old port with its slate-covered houses has been a source of inspiration to artists from all over the world since the 19th century.
Rouen
The medieval city center of Rouen is full of historic sights such as the gothic cathedral Notre-Dame, the astronomical clock (Gros Horloge), the Palais de Justice and the Place du Vieux-Marché.
